Floating ghosts

Want to learn about Cambridges dark underbelly? Why not take the ghost tour with Scudamores. Your costumed guide will take you on a lantern-lit tour of the city by night, punting along the Cam and then around the ancient streets on foot, regaling you with grisly tales of Cambridge past. Those in the know take a flask of hot chocolate, but if youre lucky you might be given a mulled wine.

21 31 October, with up to seven tours per evening between 6pm and 8.30pm, 18.50 / 17 students / 9.25 under 12s. Scudamores Punting Company, 01223 359750

Family fun at Wandlebury

Your little monsters can try their hand at carving pumpkin sculptures, go on a twilight walk with the park ranger then head to the Stable Rooms for hot soup. Children are encouraged to go in fancy dress and dont forget to take a torch or the ghouls might get you!

29 October, 4.30pm 7pm, 8 per pumpkin. Wandlebury Country Park, Wandlebury Ring, Gog Magog Hills, Babraham CB22 3AE, or contact Cambridge Past Present and Future 01223 243830

The monster mash

Dance the night away with zombies and ghouls at Madingley Halls Halloween Ball. Built in the 16th century, the historic country house is not short of atmosphere and, with a disco, buffet dinner and competition for the best fancy dress included, the night shouldnt be short of fun either. Fancy dress is optional but why not have a go?

29 October, 7pm midnight, 25, Madingley Hall, Madingley CB23 8AQ, 01223 746222
