Everything you need to know about edible stuff
Curry favour…
It’s National Curry Week from 9 to15 October (visit nationaleatingoutweek.com) and of course the Indian festival of Diwali begins on 26 October, so it’s time to celebrate all things spicy. Liven up your curry with a dollop of Tracklements new Hot Mango Chutney (£3.20, tracklements.co.uk), which contains roasted cumin, coriander seeds and fresh chilli for extra spice and depth, as well as fresh chunks of mango.
[pullquote] It’s chocolate week… As if we needed any excuses. What’s your favourite? Tastes in the Agenda office range from Star Bars to Dairy Milk to Green & Black’s Maya Gold. From 10 to 16 October it’s almost obligatory to eat the stuff. Visit chocolateweek.co.uk
Because you deserve it
Everyone deserves a treat so, on Saturday 22 October, Lion Yard shopping centre are inviting visitors to a ‘Treat Yourself’ event, where there’ll be a host of stalls offering a range of foods, plus toys and gifts. To add even more temptation, there’ll be free samples on offer from the tenants at the centre including Hotel Chocolat and YO! Sushi. Form an orderly queue…
Something special
It’s the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, and what better way to celebrate the good old British apple than with a refreshing cider? Magnums Specials is a new range of ciders with a spicy and fruity twist – choose from Pear and Ginger, Spiced Apple and Honey, and Spiced Apple and Rhubarb. £2.25, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Tesco
In season
Radish rush… Radishes are a great British veg, and are in season till the end of the month. And they’re not just for salads – cook them up quickly and put in a stir fry, or try sprinkling chopped radish on to fresh vegetable soups as a healthy alternative to croutons. They’re a great source of vitamin C and folic acid, and are also very low in calories. Grower Scott Watson from Norfolk loves them so much he eats his for breakfast!
